Quarteto Nostalgia (1977)

Beverly AMCLP 5433

This album in which Chaim Lewak is participating in the Quarteto Nostalgia is one of the two albums where he is listed on Memória Musical as a part of a group, has been released by loronix a long time ago. No need to explain that this gem is at the moment nowhere to be found, due to problems well known to notorious travelers through parallel realities.

Anyway, as part of noble efforts to complete Chaim‘s discography, Anonymous & 300 discos sent it to us as part of a “Chaim missing albums and links” package.

Chaim e Seu Conjunto – Recordando a Itália (1959)

Copacabana CLP 11090

Italy is quite nearby and I have been there countless times, just for fun. Unfortunately, this beautiful country and nice people are going through a hard time these days: Political correctness, poverty, unemployment, exorbitant prizes in cafés and restaurants, curfew after shops closure, combined with the complete standard EU crap have made it less pleasant to visit, and as the Italians say themselves, unpleasant to live in.
Unfortunately, the Italians are not in a position to make things better neither for themselves, nor for their country, as Italy is under military occupation since the end of WWII without any chance to be liberated soon.
The height of humiliation is that the Italians are forced to look upon the occupation troops as their own armed force, and even to contribute in war crimes that this force is committing worldwide.

You may ask: Why this lament about Italy?

The answer is simple: I love Italy, so much that I even learned to speak Italian.
Unfortunately, I have not spoken it for more than 20 years.

Probably, Chaim Lewak, Moacy Silva’s legendary piano player, felt the same as among the few of career albums he published, this one, sent to us by Anonymous & 300 discos, is full of rendition of Italian songs, performed in a distinctive Brasilian way.

The compositions are:

01. Ilha De Capri (Will Gross / Jimmy Kennedy)
02. Torna A Surriento (Ernesto de Curtis)
03. Mattinata (Leoncavallo)
04. Te Vojo Ben (B. Bidoli)
05. Luna Rossa (A. Avian / V. de Crescenzo)

Chaim Lewak e Seu Conjunto – Para Ouvir Amando Nr. 3 (1959)

Chaim Lewak, the piano player, I noticed as truly excellent while listening to Moacyr Silva with his conjunto which he was part of. As this is the vol.3 of a series, I suppose that there should be at least two more, but even in Memoria Musical only this third album is listed under “Chaim“. I found this album under another cover (an uninspiring one) a long time on loronix site. As “Órfãos do Loronix” has posted this album under the “Have not” list, I am posting it here, but with an alternate cover, more pleasing the eye…

Enjoy Chaim’s piano on:

01. Perfume de Gardênia (R. Hernandez) The Secret (J. Lubin / I. J. Roth)
02. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes (J. Kern / O. Harbach) Symphonie (Alstone)
03. Petite Fleur (S. Bechel)
04. Piove (Modugno / Verde) Conoscerti (D’Anzi)
05. Balada Triste (Dalton Vogeler / Esdras Pereira da Silva)
06. Castigo (Dolores Duran)
07. Fascination (F. D. Marchetti)
08. Tu Somente Tu (Anísio Silva / Jonas Garret)
09. Siete Notas de Amor (Santiago Alvarado)
10. Non Dimenticar (P. G. Redi / M. Galdieri)
