Carlos Penha e Nonato Silva – Compacto Duplo (1964)

Philips 440.635-PT

A vocal duo consisting of Carlos Penha and Nonato Silva, two artists previously completely unknown to me. Not much information I could find, but, perhaps, somebody who knows will tell us what he knows.

Information won’t change your opinion about these tracks, so don’t wait for knowledge. Enjoy the four tracks now, ask questions later:

01. Balanço do Mar (Zil Rozendo)
02. Sambambá (Zil Rozendo / Francisco Carioca)
03. Bossa do Gereréco (Augusto Messias / Daltro / Zarani)
04. Tim-Dom-Dom (Codó / João Mello)

SAMBAMBÁ

Créditos: Pedro & 300discos

EDIT by Brazilliance:
According to the Philips catalogue nummber this CPD was probably issued in 1964.
A solid rendition of “Tim Dom Dom“!

REVIEW by Bossanov:
I have no English words enough to explain all the charme of this record…
What a nice, swinging, elegant bossas!!
Surely, one of greatly underrated gem of bossa nova era in Brazil!!!
Slightly remind me Reginaldo Bessa at his best, but, of course, completly original stuff!!!

QUESTION by Bossanov:
Can it be the same Carlos Penha on “BOM BALANÇO EM BOSSA NOVA” (1973) Beverly?
