“I have never heard about Louis Cole, a North American singer, who was the crooner during a period of about six years in the boite Vogue, until yesterday when this live recording of a Vogue evening arrived on my HD thanks to Pedro & 300discos .
Louis Cole is accompanied with the finest musicians one can imagine, their names are listed at the bottom of this post…

This 10 Inch by Zaccarias‘ Quarteto Excelsior featuring Fats Elpídio is a re-post from another reality where it was re-posted from Loronx and it means that you may read Zeca‘s text about it re-printed on Órfãos do Loronix.

This 10 inch has been re-edited four years later on a 12 Inch LP with four never before or after released tracks added, which I tried to find on the net, but this attempt miserably failed so far.

No secret that Fats Elpidio is one of my favourite piano players and his albums are frequently played at my place, so it is not surprising that once more I checked my huge Zaccariasfolder to find and burn even more of his music to CD.

I have never heard about Louis Cole, a North American singer, who was the crooner during a period of about six years in the boite Vogue, until yesterday when this live recording of a Vogue evening arrived on my HD thanks to Anonymous & 300 discos.
Louis Cole is accompanied with the finest musicians one can imagine, their names are at the bottom of this post…

Fats Elpidio – Recordando Nonô (1956)

While on the previous posts Fats‘ covers were mostly decorated with pictures of various ladies in various positions (similar to Moacyr Silva‘s works) who have only one thing in common: They do neither sing nor play an instrument, at least not on the corresponding albums, nor are they in a special relationship with Fats or Moacyr.

Time to publish an album where the artist is prominently featured, not only as performer, but also decorating the front cover: Fats‘ 10 inch from 1956, a tribute to Romualdo Peixoto “Nonô“, listed as composer on all these tracks:

In every major city there is a hotel called Excelsior. In Belgrade where I live there is one in my neighborhood and I did spend an exciting night there some decades ago…

I have no idea why I thought that this album by Fats Elpidio could be easily found on the net. Surprisingly, while checking for other albums by Fats which I do not have I discovered that the only album which can be still found on the net is the one from 1960.

It is a problem for any Fats fan. I can not solve it completely, but I am re-posting Samba da Madrugada as I write, originally found on loronix, and I will post also another one in one of the next posts.
