The last missing album (a 10′) from the Guio de Morais altogether four releases by Todamérica has just arrived this morning thanks to Edson Mendes.

Djalma Sobrinho has written a very informative text about Guio’s life, career and music which I strongly recommend reading.

The promised album by The G/9 Group has just arrived from Moscow, so after the discussion about if it is the same Valéria, who is singing on Steve Bernard‘s Top Hit Party the one singing here, I have finally had the chance to compare.

Honestly speaking, just by listening I can neither claim that it is the same Valéria, nor that it is another singer with a similar name.
From 1960 to 1968 the Zeitgeist has deeply changed and the change affected all musical aspect including ways of singing, not to mention ageing ladies’ voices.

Anyway, here is a recording strongly representing the spirit of ’68, created by:

A 10′ LP rarity by João Leal Brito aka Britinho (not to mention his numerous other names), with two uninterrupted sides of pure samba. Needless to say that the package contains side A and side B plus all the compositions separated into individual tracks.

The music invites the listener to step on the dance floor and the front cover picture says the same. The back cover text even displays the names of the peformers and their respective instruments:

No secret that Fats Elpidio is one of my favourite piano players and his albums are frequently played at my place, so it is not surprising that once more I checked my huge Zaccariasfolder to find and burn even more of his music to CD.
While doing so, I discovered hidden in another folder of another album by Zaccarias which I probably moved there by mistake.
Anyway, as it was hidden I did not post it, but now I am doing it with great pleasure.

Thanks to Andreas Dünnewald, the author of the book: Brazilliance – Record Covers of Brazil (1952-1977), I am gradually nearing the 18+ tag for Parallel Realities. Yesterday he sent me this rarity wrapped in countless beautiful and not too heavily dressed ladies, fronted by Angela Maria or a lookalike of hers.
After hours of staring at the artwork, I also found time to listen to organ player Celso Murilo‘s debut album, recorded in 1961.

Nine songs from this album were reissued on Conjunto Balambossa’s “Samba ao Vivo” (Coledisc CD012): Samba Triste, Boato, Volta, Murmúrio, Dizem Por Aí, Fica Comigo, Falsa Baiana, Fiz o Bobão and Zelão. The rest of “Samba ao Vivo” was compiled from Celso Murilo’s “Órgão e Ritmo” aka “Convida a Dançar” (1963, Moeda Quebrada, O Amor em Paz) and Fats Elpidio’s “Samba da Madrugada” (1962, Na Roda do Samba).

Five songs from this album, Samba Triste, Quem Manda na Minha Vida, Volta, Boato and Zelão, were also compiled on the uncredited album “Samba Exportação” (Itamaraty ITAM-7079, c. 1970) which also contains songs from Celso Murilo’s “Ritmos na Passarela” and “Ferias no Drink”
