Formandos de 1966 – Estamos Aí! (1966)

Simonetti Gravações LP-100

A various artists type of recording done for Simonetti Gravações a only one of the kind (at least so i looks to me) venture of Maestro Simonetti as record manufacturer. It was recorded, as far as I understood the Portuguese text on the back cover, as an invitation for a Baile de Formatura taking place on the 9-12-1966 at the Rotary Club de São Paulo. The performers are listed alongside each track while the orchestras accompanying them are led by Zézinho da T.V. and Luiz Arruda Paes.

What Walt Disney‘s crazy inventor was inventing at that time, as well as why he is prominently displayed on the front cover at all (where one would expect Zézinho, Luiz Arruda Paes, both of them, or at least a good looking girl), I don’t know, but sooner or later, the answer will hopefully arrive in form of a comment…

While waiting, enjoy these tracks:

01. Arrastão (Edu Lobo / Vinicius de Moraes) – Carlos Piper
02. Sevilha Mambo (Juan Amadeu) – Arley e Sua Orquestra Melódica
03. Au Privave (Charlie Parker) – Biriba Boys
04. Exodus (Ernest Gold) – Peruzzi e Sua Orquestra
05. Consolação (Baden Powel / Vinicius de Moraes) – Birutas do Ritmo
06. Abre-Te Sézamo (Marques / Molina) – Simonetti Ritmos
07. O Morro Não Tem Vez (A.C.Jobim / Vinicius de Moraes) – Consolação (Baden Powel / Vinicius de Moraes)   –  Terra de Ninguém (Marcos Valle / Paulo Sergio Valle) – Primitivos Brasileiros
08. The Song is You (Kern / Hammerstein) – Zézinho da TV, Luiz Arruda Paes Coral e Cordas
09. Garota Moderna (Jair Amorim / Evaldo Gouveia) – Orquestra Excelsior
10. Fascinação (F.Marcheti) – Orquestra Excelsior
11. Zelão (Sérgio Ricardo) – Ritmistas Modernos
12. From Russia with Love (Lionel Bart) – Guarujá Boys
13. Vivo Sonhando (A.C.Jobim) – Três Américas

OBSERVATION by Bossanov: Some days ago at Toque the same LP of Simonetti was published with another cover (good looking girl!!!)

LAMENT by Milan Filipović; Looks like Augusto TM is publishing the good looking girls, while I have Disney’s figures on the front covers.
Too bad! Unfortunately, no chance to ever get the “18+” warning while entering Parallel Realities.
I am strongly considering the opening of another site for mature audience with a prominent ADULTS ONLY – AUSWEIS BITTE! warning on the front page.

Zézinho E Sua Orquestra TV – Zézinho e Seu Pistão (1959)

Odeon MOFВ 3074

The confusion about the Zézinhos is escalating daily.
Now, thanks to Pedro & 300 discos, we have a third Zézinho on Parallel Realities, a Pistom player, fortunately, honestly declaring himself as the Zézinho da TV, eliminating thus mistaking him for the countless other Zézinhos

A short fragment from a mail correspondence with a dear friend from Brazil explains this problem short and exact:

“Thanks God (Milan) you’re not searching for a singer named Marcelo, cause you’d find hundreds of records from Padre Marcelo Rossi“.

Anyway, as a precaution, I decided to label the so far exposed Zézinhos as follows in the labels (mercadores):

Zézinho (José Delphino Filho – Cantor)
Zézinho (2) (Jose Batista da Silva Jr. – Orgão)
Zézinho da TV (Zézinho da TV – Pistom)

I am sure that you have also the unmistakable feeling that there will be additions to this list…

Zézinho da TV (clearly a pistom player appearing on TV) has recorded, according to Memória Musical, seven 78 rpms and two career albums out of which this one, premiered today, is the first.

Regardless if it is Zézinho, Zézinho or Zézinho I recommend listening to these masterfully rendered tracks:

01. Trumрet Сha Сha Сha (Вillу Mure)
02. Вuona Sera (Сarl Sigman / Рeter de Rose)
03. Stuрid Сuрid (Neil Sedaka / Нoward Greenfield)
04. Um Angelo È Sсeso a Вrooklуn (В. Сanfora / В. Zaррoni / С. Romano)
05. Riсo Tiрo (Sidneу Morais)
06. El Reloj (Roberto Сantoral)
07. Viva Meu Samba (Вillу Вlanсo)
08. Além (Edson Вorges / Sidneу Morais)
09. Сhega de Saudade (Tom Jobim / Viniсius de Moraes)
10. Estrada do Sol (Tom Jobim / Dolores Duran)
11. Franqueza (Denis Вrean / Osvaldo Guilherme)
12. Noсhe De Lluvia (Heсtor Lagna Fietta / Ernesto Вonino)

ADDITIONAL CONFUSION by 300discos: José Batista da Silva Jr., Zezinho (2), is better known as “Maestro Zezinho“. He is well known in Brazil for taking part in Silvio Santos TV show. Then, to put more confusion in an already confused situation, he could also claim the nickname of “Zezinho da TV“.

EVEN MORE CONFUSION by 300discos: And to add more confusion: his Orquestra is also called “Orquestra TV“, as the one already present at Parallel Realities

CONFUSION ALSO ON OTHER PLACES by Milan FilipovićMemória Musical lists Zezinho, the cantor (as far as I noticed) as two separate Zezinhos, and Zezinho (2) as three (providing that Zezinho da TV, Zezinho (2) and Maestro Zezinho are actually one person).
Good that also the Orquestra TV is involved as a separate question.

CLEARING SOME MISTS OF CONFUSION by 300discos: And HERE we can see a photo of José Batista da Silva Jr., “Maestro Zezinho“, and some videos of him on Silvio Santos TV show.
