ABOUT STEVE BERNARD by Frank-Oliver:
Steve Bernard was born in Romania in 1915 and came to Brazil after living in Vienna.
Memoria Musical lists 12 albums for Steve Bernard e seu Conjunto from 1954 to 1962.on Odeon, Sinter, Philips, Continental, RCA.
Especially Ritmo Espetacular from 1962 (RCA) seems very interesting with a singer called Valeria.

Quarteto de Alberto Mota – Quarteto de Alberto Mota (1963)

I am re posting from loronix tonight an ambiental and hypnotic recording that fascinated me when I heard it for the first time and has stayed one of my favorite instrumental albums made in Brasil. Alberto Mota has recorded, as far as I could find out, only four albums. This one is the third. The previous two were also posted on loronix while the fourth “Top Set” from 1966 is only mentioned on the net (on my Santa Claus list, among other places).
Anyway, this one I am re presenting now, suits my taste considerably more than the previous two, as well as the one from my Santa list (judging by the two compositions from it which I managed to find using P2P).
.
The performers are:
.
Alberto Mota – piano, solovox
Armando de Souza – guitar
Joaquim Paes Henriques – drums
Raymundo Cruz – bass
.
Performing the compositions:
.
01. Samba de Uma Nota Só (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
02. Discussão (Tom Jobim / Newton Mendonça)
03. Tudo Certinho (Alberto Mota / Armandinho)
04. Folhas Mortas (Les Feuilles Mortes) (Kosma / J. Prevert)
05. Nossos Momentos (Haroldo Barbosa / Luis Reis)
06. Canção de Amor (Alberto Mota / Armandinho)
07. Menina Feia (Oscar Castro Neves / Luvercy Fiorini)
08. Corcovado (Tom Jobim)
09. Sonho e Saudade (Tito Madi)
10. Laura (Mercer / Raksin)
11. Se Meu Apartamento Falasse (The Apartment) (C. Williams)

.
Zeca‘s text about this album is inside the first comment as usual.
