Louis Cole e Seu Sexteto – Uma Noite No Vogue (1955)

Rádio 0021-V

The premiere of this exquisite recording had been 28.11.2012. in the other reality. Here is the original text (almost) exactly as it appeared on that date:

“I have never heard about Louis Cole, a North American singer, who was the crooner during a period of about  six years in the boite Vogue, until yesterday when this live recording of a Vogue evening arrived on my HD thanks to Pedro & 300discos  .
Louis Cole is accompanied with the finest musicians one can imagine, their names are listed at the bottom of this post…

Enjoy the atmosphere and music as much as I did last evening playing these tracks over and over again:

01. Because Of Rain (В. С. Наrrуngton) Fox
02. There Goes My Heart (А. Silvеr / В. Dаvis) Fox
03. Inspiração (Јulio Ваrbosа)  Bolero
04. Quem Маnda na Minha Vida (Неrivеlto Маrtins / Rаul Sаmpаiо) Samba
05. Vogueando (Маurílio Sаntos) Choro
06. Calado Venci (Неrivеlto Маrtins / Аtаulfo Аlvеs) Samba
07. Tamborim (Ainda Sem Compositor) Samba

11. Heart of my Heart
12. Мistеr Sаndmаn (Раt Ваllаrd) Fox

Musicians:

Маurílio Sаntos: Pistom
Mоаcуr Silva: Sax tenor
Fаts Еlрidio: Piano
Сélio Dаmаzio: Contrabaixo
Juca: Bateria
Zézinho: Cantor

Solos:

Moacyr Silva (nas fxs. 3 e 7)
Maurílio Santos (nas fxs. 5 e 7)
Fats Elpidio (na fx. 9)

Louis Cole is singing the songs in English. The songs in Portuguese are, fortunately, sung by Zézinho.

The package contains the Lado 1 and Lado 2 as complete sides without pause, as well as the 12 individual songs, so you may play it the way you prefer.

THE LAST NIGHT IN VOGUE?

By the way, maybe that was the last “night at Vogue”. The boite Vogue caught fire in August, 14, 1955.”

Dançando com Vadico (1956) Vocalista: Zezinho

Continental LPP 37

A repost from another reality.
Here is the original text as written 10.07.2013:

“When I listened last night to this 10 Inch by Vadico (his first album out of 3) I was surprised by a very familiar sounding vocal and manner of singing.
I rubbed my ears and continued. If that is not Zézinho, then I must be hallucinating, I thought. Taking a look at the text on the back cover confirmed the evident.

Yes it is THE Zézinho!

More than that: Besides a mention in the text of his singing at the Vogue in the early ’50s, I found even his complete name: José Delphino Filho.

Curiously, this album is not listed in Zézinho‘s discography, which I (fortunately wrongly) assumed that I already had complete in my collection.

Enjoy Zézinho‘s unexpected appearance out of the blue as much as I did while listening to him singing these sambas, accompanied by Vadico: “

1. Agora É Cinza (Alcebíades Barcelos “Bide” / Armando “Marçal”) Samba
2. Você Vai Se Quiser (Noel Rosa) Samba
3. Nega (Waldemar Gomes / Afonso Teixeira) Samba
4. Saudade Dela (Ataulfo Alves) Samba
5. Aos Pés da Cruz (Marino Pinto / Zé da Zilda) Samba
6. Minha Cabrocha (Lamartine Babo) Samba
7. Se Você Jurar (Ismael Silva / Nilton Bastos / Francisco Alves) Samba
8. Vai-te Embora (Romualdo Peixoto “Nonô” / Francisco Matoso) Samba

Zezinho e Coro Odeon – Compacto Duplo (1963)

Odeon 7BD-1099 (reissue from another reality)

That I am a fan of Zázinho (the singer) is by now well known to all visitors of this parallel reality, so there is no need to hide my delight after I received
this compacto duplo, in spite of the fact that it had the same problem as the Alda Perdigão EP posted earlier today.
The solution to the problem was also the same: The missing cover had been found in another reality…

The songs are:

1. Segundo Casamento de D. Pedro I (Antonio Alves / Marques Balbino)
2. Tamborim de Ouro (Ary Guarda)
3. O Apito Na Escola de Samba (Billy Blanco)
4. Lá Vem Portela (Billy Blanco)

Zézinho – Portela 1962 / 63 – Compacto (1963)

Parallel Realities Studio 2013

In the previous post I complained about the lack of Zézinho‘s vocals on Lindolfo Gaya‘s LP, but honestly speaking, I don’t know why Zézinho should sing on this one, when he has not sung on (as far as I know) any one of Gaya‘a recordings…

Still, the lack of more by Zézinho is simply evident, so I decided to do something about it.

A short trip through parallel realities, revealed one in which a compacto with three Carnaval compositions sung by Zézinho was released. On side A were two songs recorded for the 1962 Carnaval and on side B one track from the 1963 Carnaval:

Lado A (1962):

A1. Sofrer Por Errar (Aniceto J. Andrade)
A2. Incrível Destino (S. Costa / Beatriz L. Silva)

Lado B (1963):

B1. Lá Vem Portela (Billy Blanco) com Côro Odeon

PORTELA

Dançando com Vadico (1956) Vocalista: Zézinho

Continental LPP 37

When I listened last night to this 10 Inch by Vadico (his first album out of 3) I was surprised by a very familiar sounding vocal and manner of singing.

Curiously, this album is not listed in Zézinho‘s discography, which I (fortunately wrongly) assumed I already had complete in my collection.

Enjoy Zézinho‘s unexpected appearance out of the blue as much as I did while listening to him singing these sambas, accompanied by Vadico:

1. Agora É Cinza (Alcebíades Barcelos “Bide” / Armando “Marçal”) Samba
2. Você Vai Se Quiser (Noel Rosa) Samba
3. Nega (Waldemar Gomes / Afonso Teixeira) Samba
4. Saudade Dela (Ataulfo Alves) Samba
5. Aos Pés da Cruz (Marino Pinto / Zé da Zilda) Samba
6. Minha Cabrocha (Lamartine Babo) Samba
7. Se Você Jurar (Ismael Silva / Nilton Bastos / Francisco Alves) Samba
8. Vai-te Embora (Romualdo Peixoto “Nonô” / Francisco Matoso) Samba

Os Craques da Música – É Uma Brasa Para Dançar (1966)

Chantecler CMG 2382

As I have previously found out, there are a lot of different Zezinhos singing, directing, playing instruments and doing lots of other things…
I found even a Padre Zezinho recording religious songs and of course, as part of the notorious Donald Duck‘s nephews trio, Huguinho, Zezinho e Luisinho, acting and playing trumpet and drums in various Walt Disney cartoons.
This Zezinho, who has his premiere on Parallel Realities today (not to be confused with Maestro Zezinho, nor the Zezinho who is one of my favorite singers) is playing piano and organ, while being the arranger and in charge of direction on this album which is the first in the series of 4 LPs called É Uma Brasa Para Dançar.
His other project Zezinho e Seu Sombalanco (1965) has been already presented several years ago on Loronix.

The musicians of Os Craques da Música are:

Zezinho (Piano, Órgão)
Gerson (Baixo, Tuba)
Casé (Sax alto e tenor)
Lambari (Sax alto)
Edilson (Bateria)
Dorimar (Piston)

The medleys performed by Os Craques da Música are:

Zézinho e Escola de Samba com Astor e Seu Trombone – O Espetacular Carnaval do Rio (1962)

Odeon MOFВ 3270

As the Carnaval is nearing, maybe it is time to start posting here and there suitable music for preparating for this event.

Zézinho e Os Copacabana – Mesa de Pista (1957)

Оdеоn – МОFВ 3007

While listening to Louis Cole‘s Uma Noite No Vogue, which I posted here a short time ago, I was pleasantly surprised, not only with the complete album which is truly fascinating, but also with singer Zézinho featured on several songs singing in Portuguese. A short search through my collection revealed three albums labeled Zézinho, out of which only one was by the Zézinho I was looking for.
As you might have guessed by now, this album here is the one where the real Zézinho is singing and not some other one of the countless Zézinhos singing all over Brasil (check the net and you’ll see yourself).
Looks like Zézinho recorded only 4 albums (I added two of these to my Santa Claus list)…
Mesa de Pista is (from my point of view) not so cool as the Noite no Vogue, being mainly a Para dançar album with instrumental music and just a few songs, but anyway, here it is (re-posted from loronix):

Lado 1 is an uninterrupted medley while Lado 2 consists of individual tracks:

01. Wаbаsh Вluеs (D. Ringlе / F. Меinkеn) Adios (Еnriс Маdriguеrа) Baião Caçula (Мário Gеnnаri Filhо) De Papo Pro Á (Јоubеrt dе Саrvаlho / Оlеgário Маriаno) Pois É (Аtаulfo Аlvеs) Chora Cavaquinho Dulce Y Amorosa (R. Јimеnеz) Веgin The Веguine (Соlе Роrtеr) Tiradentes (Estаnislаu Silvа / Déсio Саrlos / Реntеаdо)
02. Faceira (Arу Ваrrоso)
03. Fеitio dе Orасão (Nоеl Rosа / Vаdiсo)
04. Моrena Boса de Ouro (Аrу Ваrrosо)
05. Homenagem (Аstоr Silvа)
06. Longe dos Olhos (Сristóvãо dе Alеnсаr / Djаlmа Fеrrеirа)
07. Não Dou Conselho (Аntôniо Nássаrа / Еrаsmо Silvа)

Louis Cole e Seu Sexteto – Uma Noite No Vogue (1955)

Rádio 0021-V

This album I planned to post yesterday, but due to a shocking problem about which I will write in a special post, it appears today.

I have never heard about Louis Cole, a North American singer, who was the crooner during a period of about  six years in the boite Vogue, until yesterday when this live recording of a Vogue evening arrived on my HD thanks to Anonymous & 300 discos.
Louis Cole is accompanied with the finest musicians one can imagine, their names are at the bottom of this post…

Enjoy the atmosphere and music as much as I did last evening playing these tracks over and over again:

01. Because Of Rain (В. С. Наrrуngton) Fox
02. There Goes My Heart (А. Silvеr / В. Dаvis) Fox
03. Inspiração (Јulio Ваrbosа)  Bolero
04. Quem Маnda na Minha Vida (Неrivеlto Маrtins / Rаul Sаmpаiо) Samba
05. Vogueando (Маurílio Sаntos) Choro
06. Calado Venci (Неrivеlto Маrtins / Аtаulfo Аlvеs) Samba
07. Tamborim (Ainda Sem Compositor) Samba
08. I’ve Got You Under My Skin (Соlе Роrtеr) Beguine
09. Сhoro dе Criança (Fаts Еlрidiо) Choro
10. Тоdo Mundo Sаbе (Djаlmа Маfrа / Nеlson Саvаquinho) Samba
11. Heart of my Heart
12. Мistеr Sаndmаn (Раt Ваllаrd) Fox

Musicians:

Маurílio Sаntos: Pistom
Mоаcуr Silva: Sax tenor
Fаts Еlрidio: Piano
Сélio Dаmаzio: Contrabaixo
Juca: Bateria
Zеzinho: Cantor

Solos:

Moacyr Silva (nas fxs. 3 e 7)
Maurílio Santos (nas fxs. 5 e 7)
Fats Elpidio (na fx. 9)

Louis Cole is singing the songs in English. The songs in Portuguese are, fortunately, sung by Zezinho.

The package uploaded on DЕPОSIТ FILЕS contains the Lado 1 and Lado 2 as complete sides without pause, as well as the 12 individual songs, so you may play it the way you prefer.
