Coro e Orquestra de Severino Filho – Viva São Jorge (1956)

Columbia LPCB 22001

Severino Filho with choir and orchestra, out of the newest package sent to us all by Pedro & 300 discos.

As usual, I am presenting the oldest recording from the package first: This time it is a 10 Inch from 1956, which has, besides being the oldest one, a special meaning for me as it was released in a special year from my point of view, honoring a saint very special to me: São Jorge or Свети Ђорђе, celebrated in Serbia, according to the Serbian calender, two weeks after the date the title of the first track on this album specifies: On the 6th of May.

The compositions devoted to São Jorge are:

1. Vinte e Três de Abril (Ari Monteiro / Roberto Martins) Samba-canção
2. Espada de São Jorge (Ari Monteiro / Ari Rabelo) Samba
3. São Jorge Guerreiro (Antônio Almeida) Batuque
4. Salve Ogum (J. B. de Carvalho) Macumba
5. Padroeiro do Brasil (Irany de Oliveira / Ari Monteiro) Samba
6. Capitão Guerreiro (Antônio Gonçalves da Cruz / Carlos Alberto da Silva / A. Ribeiro Cunha) Samba
7. Ogum É São Jorge (Roberto Martins / Ari Monteiro) Samba-jongo
8. São Jorge dos Brasileiros (Ari Monteiro / Ari Rabelo) Samba

СВЕТИ ЂОРЂЕ УБИЈА АЖДАЈУ
