Edu da Gaita – Edu em 8 Ritmos (1957) 10P

It is obvious to the regular visitors of Parallel Realities that I have some professional obligations that keep me quite busy and leave just a little time for sex, drugs & brasilian music. But a nice collaboration with Órfãos do Loronix site in recreating the mighty loronix albums database fits just fine in this period as it allows me to pick some loronix albums that I consider appropriate for my site conception out of my collection and to post them for the benefit of all interested without much preparation.
This time the “have not” list sent to me by Órfãos do Loronix is really impressive by the music quality & cover art and will hopefully be enjoyable for ears, eyes & soul.
Like this 10 inch album by Edu da Gaita playing harmonica for the first time on Parallel Realities wrapped in a cover that is quite spectacular.

Enjoy the 8 tracks while reading Zeca’s text about Edu and this recording inside the first post:

01. Nola (Fox)
02. Conceicao (Samba-Cancao)
03. Lisboa Antiga (Fado)
04. Saudades da Bahia (Samba)
05. Brasileirinho (Choro)
06. Summertime (Blues)
07. Que Murmurem (Bolero)
08. Sob o Ceu de Suez (Baiao)

  1. Zeca's text about this release as found on loronix:Let's start the day with an artist that is probably known only by the friends who live in Brazil, Edu da Gaita, a famous virtuoso harmonica player, active from the 30's until the early 80's. Edu da Gaita was the first musician to perform the Moto Perpetual of Nicolo Paganini on a wind instrument.Edu da Gaita was responsible for the popularization of the harmonica in Brazil on popular music and also classical, winning several awards in Europe and South America. He was also the solist of Radames Gnattali sexteto during the 60's. In this LP, Edu da Gaita – Edu em 8 Ritmos (1957) 10P, for Polydor, Edu's harmonica visits several genres, such as: Samba, Fox, Baiao and Fado with the accompaniment of Alexandre Gnattali Orquestra and arrangements.
