Carlos Lacerda – Um Piano da Bahia (1963)

Audio Fidelity AFLP 1998

Baiano Carlos Lacerda an artist previously unknown to me, has his premiere on Parallel Realities with his remarkable album from 1963.

As far as I could find out he has recorded only three LPs. Beside this one presented here, another called Piano de Informal (e Bossa) may be found on Vinyl Maniac‘s site, while detailed information about his life and career you may look up on Linha do Tempo da Invenção Musical.

The compositions performed are:

01. Hino do Carnaval Brasileiro (Lamartine Babo)
02. Pó de Mico (Nilo Viana / Dora Lopes / Renato Araújo / Arildo de Souza)
03. Recordar (Aldacir Louro / Aloísio Marins / Adolfo Macedo)
04. Colombina (Armando Sá / Miguel Brito)
05. A Lua É Camarada (Armando Cavalcanti / Klécius Caldas)
06. Prelúdio Para Ninar Gente Grande (Menino Passarinho) (Luiz Vieira)
07. Tim-dom-dom (João Mello / Codó)
08. O Barquinho (Roberto Menescal / Ronaldo Bôscoli)
09. Chora Coração (Denis Brean / Osvaldo Guilherme)
10. Improviso na Sala Três (F. de Paula Gondim)
11. Pequenininha (Carlos Lacerda)
12. Canção do Amor Que Vai (Carlos Lacerda) Intérprete: Carlos Lacerda / Aloísio Silva

  1. An ingenious pianist whose albums are true collector’s items. Thank you for sharing this one!Maybe we are lucky and the inexhaustible sources of Pedro will also bring to light the third and final album in Lacerda’s discography, O GOVERNADOR DO TECLADO INTERPRETA DJALMA FERREIRA (1961, Carroussell SELP 3007), which seems nowhere unavailable
